OtoCarFix
Making used-car research easier to trust.
OtoCarFix puts specifications, documented problems, NHTSA safety records and real owner reviews into one file per model year.
Why it exists
The same model name covers different engines, transmissions and generations, and the answer to “is this one any good” changes with them. We make those differences visible instead of averaging them away.
How it works
Three layers are kept visibly apart: measured data, editorial writing and owner reports. Complaint and recall counts come from NHTSA and carry the date they were pulled; economy figures come from EPA; problem files explain a mechanism and cite a source; owner reviews arrive with the engine, the mileage and how long the car was owned.
What we do not do
We do not tell you whether to buy a car, and we do not publish prices or repair costs. What a car is worth depends on the market, the mileage, the history and the negotiation — that is your call, not ours. Our job is to give you the facts you need to make it.
Where this is going
The most complete model-year record of what breaks on a used car in the US, and a community of owners reporting what actually happened over years of ownership.
